Welcome to Otter Class!
We are a happy bunch of Year One children. Our teachers are Mrs Seal and Mrs Veitch-Edwards and our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Bridgeman and Mr Trenchard.
We enjoy reading lots of different types of books and sharing stories together. We also find out lots of facts through information books and enjoy poems and rhymes too.
We love the Bronze, Silver and Gold challenges in Maths and using lots of different things to help us with our counting.
We will be learning about many different topics, including 'Ourselves', 'Superheroes', 'Healthy Eating', 'People Who Help Us', 'Materials', 'Plants and Animals' and 'The Seaside'.
We enjoy active learning and will explore ideas by acting them out, discussing them and 'having a go' before we record what we have found.
Most of all, we are a great team and help each other out when we get stuck. Have a look at our latest topic letter to see what we are doing right now.
P.E days are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons this term. Please make sure your daps fit and that you have a jumper and joggers in school to keep you warm when we go outside for Games.
Reading morning for parents and carers to come into class is from 8:50-9:05 every Wednesday. We hope to see you there!
Show and tell is on Fridays and will be alternate between Lions group one week, Tiger group the next.
Thank you to all of the parents and carers that attended the workshop in school. If you were unable to attend, but would be interested in an early evening workshop then please come and let us know. If we have enough interest, we will hold a second session.
Below is the PowerPoint Presentation we shared during the morning, with lots of great information to help you support your child with reading and writing.
We had a fantastic and fun time on our Superheroes Day. Everybody dressed up - even the teachers! (Flash, Super Woman and Wonder Woman we know your real identity now!)
We all used our super-senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell for lots of games and challenges and used our physical super-powers for throwing, catching and running outside.
