Welcome

Welcome from the Early Years Team

We are delighted that you have chosen Chandag Infant School for your child’s education. We look forward to welcoming your family to our school and continuing to work together with the families of the children who already attend.

We are looking forward to meeting you at our information evening on Wednesday 12th June, 6pm.

Please come to the school hall to meet the Early Years staff and governors who will be able to answer any questions you may have. As lots of information will be passed to you during this evening please make alternative child care arrangements for your children.

Preliminary school visits

We aim to get to know the children as soon as possible and have organised several opportunities for your child to become familiar with our school and the staff.

Share A Story 2:55-3:10pm

Wednesday 19th June and Friday 21st June

We suggest your child visits alternate classrooms for this. The classes are Badgers and Hedgehogs.

Stay And Play

These 3 sessions allow the children to play with the other children, become familiar with the environment and get to know the staff. During the first 2 visits the children will not have been put into their final classes, they will be grouped with just a few other children. This is so we can meet your child and get to know them on a more individual basis.

Following the second visit you will be informed by email/ Parentmail, of your child’s teacher in September and the arrangements for starting school. On this final visit your child will be with the teacher and in the classroom they will be in when they arrive in September.

We recognise that starting school is a big step and our aim is to make the transition process run as smoothly as possible in order that your child makes a happy and successful start to their education.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, we look forward to working with you and your child.

Catriona Hayes, Jane Lewis, Claire Gurnsey, Claire Mead, Hannah Johnson and Gill Roach.

Timetable for visits before starting school

Please bring and pick up your child through the main entrance, the school office.

For ‘Stay and Play’, please take your child to the correct classroom and leave them to stay by themselves.

Stay and play dates and times

You will be notified by email of which class your child will be in following the visit on Friday 28th June.

On Thursday 4th July, please look at the information regarding your home visit.

Thank you

Starting School In September

When the classes have been complied your child will be put in either Red or Blue group. They will attend school at the times detailed below.

Starting School

Please come to the outside entrance of your child’s classroom to pick up and drop off. We shall make sure the gate at the end of the walkway is open at dropping off and collecting time. It will not be open before these times as we need to ensure the safety of the other children in the school.

If we feel that your child is finding it difficult to manage full days in school (this is very common in young children) we will let you know and discuss their individual needs with you. Please let us know if you feel you would like to talk to us in more detail about your child.
