We are very proud that our headteacher Annie Smart has been made an executive headteacher and will take on the exciting task of launching the new Two Rivers C of E Primary School for Wellsway Multi Academy Trust.
Mrs Smart is looking forward to this challenging role, which she will undertake alongside her current duties.
She said: “I remain 100 per cent committed to Chandag Infant School and know that under its strong leadership team the school will continue to flourish.”

Year 2 children welcomed money experts from the Yorkshire Building Society this week to help develop their money sense. They shared the reasons for saving money, what money can be spent on, wants and needs and even where money comes from. There were interesting ideas such as " Money comes from the gold mine" and " Money can't buy you all of the things you need". To end the session, the children impressed us all when they applied their learning from Maths lessons to solve real life problems.
A big thank you to our visitors!

Chandag Infant School welcomed five Wellsway School Sports Ambassadors to their assembly on Tuesday. The Year 9 and 10 students were all ex-Chandag Infant School pupils and they came to highlight the many benefits of taking part in sport. Nathan, Phoebe, Rhona, Issy and ? described their own sporting journeys and brought in their medals and trophies to share with the children. All the Year 1 and 2 children enjoyed the assembly and hopefully some of them will be coming back to Chandag Infant School as Sports Ambassadors in 8 or 9 years time! Many thanks to Mrs Burston for organising the assembly and to the students from Wellsway who were amazing and inspiring.
Looking for new ideas for tea time?, this free course starts tomorrow. It is a great way to improve confidence in the kitchen as well as encouraging children to try new foods, especially fruit and vegetables
Year 2 took on the role of detectives and used their inference skills to solve the mystery. Year 2 had an exciting start to their morning with an unexpected discovery on the school playground. We were shocked to uncover a series of puzzling clues, including, glittery footprints, a broken UFO and letters with an unfamiliar language. It must have been Beegu, meaning our book this term has come to life
Our little Badgers' and Hedgehogs' reading is really taking off! We are desperately in need of some volunteers to hear them read in addition to the reading they do with the teacher. Please come and chat to the team if you can help, no requirement for a regular commitment and younger siblings may be able to be accommodated.
Year 2 experienced an out of this world presentation from our resident astrophysicist. Our guest was blown away with the children's amazing questions.
"What happens if you drop a bowling ball on the moon?"
"What would happen if the world went outside the Kuiper belt"

Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year and welcome back to term 3! We hope that you enjoyed the Christmas break and related festivities and are feeling refreshed for the year ahead.
We have been delighted with the way that the children have settled back in to school today, with many of them being excited to see friends again.
Our assembly this morning focussed on continuing our Growth Mindsets by developing the skill of ‘Resilience’. The children enjoyed this book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Most-Magnificent-Thing-Ashley-Spires/dp/1554537045 , which you may like to look out for at the library or listen to you Youtube. It tells the story of a ‘regular girl’ who wanted to make something ‘magnificent’, and the challenges she meets along the way. She does eventually create her own ‘magnificent thing’…
We will be finalising dates for terms 3 and 4 in our Staff meeting this week, with the intention of alerting you to these by the end of the week. Look out for a Phonics Check briefing for Y1 parents and a SATS evening for Y2 parents to name a couple.
We aim to use this section of our website more and more as we go through the year, with regular updates being added ‘Blog’ style rather than a word document newsletter. We hope you find in helpful.
